Altitude Wallet Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Altitude ("Altitude," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information in connection with the Altitude Wallet ("Wallet").

Altitude Wallet is a self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet that enables users to interact with Ethereum Virtual Machine ("EVM") compatible blockchain networks and the TRON network.

By using the Wallet, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Self-Custodial Wallet

Altitude Wallet is designed as a self-custodial wallet.

Altitude does not take custody of your digital assets and does not control your private keys or recovery phrase.

Your private keys and recovery credentials are intended to remain under your control. You are responsible for protecting your device, private keys, passwords, recovery phrases, and other credentials used to access your Wallet.

Altitude cannot recover your Wallet or digital assets if you lose the credentials necessary to access them, unless a specific recovery functionality is expressly provided to you.

2. Information We May Collect

Depending on how you use the Wallet, we may collect or process certain categories of information.

2.1 Blockchain Information

Blockchain networks are public by design. When you use the Wallet, information such as the following may be publicly available and may be processed by us:

  • Public wallet addresses
  • Transaction hashes
  • Token balances
  • Transaction amounts
  • Smart contract interactions
  • Network identifiers
  • Transaction timestamps
  • Other information recorded on public blockchains

2.2 Technical Information

We may automatically collect limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Wallet, including:

  • Device type
  • Operating system and application version
  • Language and regional settings
  • IP address
  • Network information
  • Crash reports
  • Diagnostic information
  • Performance information
  • Security-related events

2.3 Usage Information

We may collect information about how users interact with the Wallet, such as:

  • Features used
  • Supported networks accessed
  • General application activity
  • Errors and application performance
  • Interaction with Wallet functionality

As of the Last Updated date above, the Wallet collects usage information only through the optional analytics described in Section 2.5, and only where you have enabled them. If we begin collecting the broader usage information described above, we will disclose this in the Wallet and, where required, obtain your consent before that collection begins.

2.4 Information You Provide

If you contact Altitude for support or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect information you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Communications with our support team
  • Information you provide when reporting technical issues

2.5 Anonymous Usage Analytics (Optional)

Usage analytics are disabled by default. We request your consent once during Wallet setup, and you may change your choice at any time through the "Share anonymous usage statistics" setting in Wallet Settings. The Wallet remains fully functional if you decline. We process this information only where you have given your consent.

Where usage analytics are enabled, we collect only:

  • The one-time creation or import of a Wallet on your device
  • The opening of an unlocked Wallet, recorded no more than once per day
  • Wallet version
  • Browser type
  • Approximate location at country level

We do not collect or store your IP address. Our analytics provider determines your approximate country from the network connection and then discards the IP address; it is not stored with the event and is not used to identify you.

Installations are distinguished only by a randomly generated identifier stored on your device. It is not derived from your Wallet, wallet addresses, password, or recovery phrase, and it is deleted if you disable usage analytics.

These analytics do not include wallet addresses, token balances, transaction amounts, transaction hashes, recovery phrases, private keys, the screens you view, or the websites and applications you interact with.

We use this information solely to measure how many users actively use the Wallet, as distinguished from the number of installations.

3. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

Altitude does not require access to your private keys or recovery phrase to operate the Wallet as a self-custodial wallet.

We will never ask you to provide your complete private key or recovery phrase through customer support, email, social media, or other communications.

You should never disclose this information to anyone claiming to represent Altitude.

4. How We Use Information

We may use information collected through the Wallet to:

  • Provide and operate Wallet functionality
  • Process requests to interact with supported blockchain networks
  • Maintain application security
  • Detect fraud, abuse, or technical problems
  • Diagnose crashes and software errors
  • Improve Wallet functionality and performance
  • Provide customer support
  • Develop new features
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations
  • Enforce our Terms of Use

5. Blockchain Privacy

Transactions performed through the Wallet may be publicly visible.

Public blockchain information can potentially be associated with your identity through blockchain analytics, exchanges, counterparties, public disclosures, or other sources.

Altitude cannot delete, modify, or conceal information that has already been recorded on a decentralized blockchain.

You should not assume that blockchain transactions are anonymous.

6. Third-Party Services

The Wallet may rely on or integrate with third-party services, including:

  • Blockchain RPC and infrastructure providers
  • EVM and TRON network infrastructure
  • Blockchain explorers
  • Analytics and crash-reporting providers
  • Token and market-data providers
  • Swap or decentralized exchange infrastructure
  • Fiat on-ramp or off-ramp providers
  • Decentralized applications

6.1 Analytics Provider

The usage analytics described in Section 2.5 are processed on our behalf by PostHog, Inc., acting as our data processor under a data processing agreement, on infrastructure located in the European Union.

7. Sharing of Information

We may share information with service providers where reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or improve the Wallet.

We may also disclose information:

  • When required by applicable law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process
  • To protect the rights, property, or security of Altitude, our users, or others
  • In connection with investigating fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information with advertising networks, data brokers, or information resellers.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including legal, security, operational, and compliance requirements.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and why it was collected.

Information recorded on public blockchains is outside Altitude's control and may remain publicly available indefinitely.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information under our control.

However, no software, device, network, or data transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and Wallet credentials.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to:

  • Request access to personal information we maintain about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of certain personal information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request a portable copy of certain information
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

11. Children's Privacy

Altitude Wallet is not intended for children under 13 years of age or any higher minimum age required by applicable local law.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

12. International Data Processing

Altitude and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you reside.

Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Wallet, our practices, applicable laws, or regulatory requirements.

When appropriate, we will update the "Last Updated" date and provide additional notice of material changes.

Your continued use of the Wallet following an updated Privacy Policy is subject to the version then in effect.
