Project Ion: alternative settlement platform

Project Ion is DTCC's alternative equities-settlement platform, and as of 2022-08-22 it was documented handling more than 100,000 transactions per day in a parallel production environment ¹. Tokenization Service: converting held securities into tokens

The DTCC Tokenization Service is a newer initiative for creating tokenized (blockchain-based digital) records of assets that are already sitting in DTC's custody system ². On 2026-07-15, DTCC reported that DTC-held securities were actually converted into tokens and used in multiple real production trades ². Those transactions ran for several hours inside a live DTC production environment, but the full, broader launch of the service is still planned for October 2026 ².
